Out of all the transfers I’ve seen at this club, I think this would be one of the most important. Aubameyang is one of the top strikers in the world and Arsenal lack one. I have said this before, but I think Lacazette will finally reach his top form in at least two years with the club if not one, but if Arsenal really want to compete with teams like Manchester City, Man United, and dare I say it, Tottenham, we need to step it up with the transfers. Aubameyang would be the perfect option for us because of his speed and almost perfect chemistry with new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan. If these two guys reunite, Arsenal will have a very bright future.
I also want to take time to talk about Ozil and Wilshere. Ozil is one of if not the best CAM in the Premier League and I think we need to keep him here at all costs. Alexis was already a huge loss for us so I do not think it would be a good idea for Arsenal to sell him, no matter how much money we get for him. Wenger has stated that he will sign a new contract and has praised him highly, but you never know. Van Persie was sort of in a similar situation and in the end, he left us so all we can do is just cross our fingers and hope for the best. Also, keeping Jack Wilshere will be a major signing for the club because I think he is doing so well and will become an extremely good midfielder. Hopefully he has gotten over all the injuries and lackluster performances, but I do not want to speak to soon. I love Jack Wilshere and his blood runs Arsenal, so I would be very happy to see him stay. He is also in very good form so it would be in Arsenal’s best interest to keep him.
I still do believe that we got the short end of the deal for Alexis which is why I think this Aubameyang deal is a MUST. Dortmund director Michael Zorc says that Arsenal still have the option to get Auba if and only if Arsenal pay the exact amount they are asking for. It has been released that Giroud will NOT leave the club, which I am both happy and sad about. Giroud scored a good number of goals for the club and has proven to the fans that he can work very hard to start in the first team. On the other hand, however, he is just not good enough to win us the Premier League. He will score a magnificent goal every once in a while, but he is simply just not good enough, and it hurts me to say that. Giroud is a good man yet an average player, and I think most Arsenal fans can agree with that statement. I also think it would be best for him to go to Dortmund because he wants more first team action, and with Lacazette and possibly Aubameyang, that desire may not work out for him at Arsenal. I think it would be a win-win-win scenario if Arsenal would have sold or at least loaned Giroud to Dortmund because Arsenal would have gotten their man, Giroud would have gotten his desperate first team action to allow him to play in the France squad, and Dortmund would have gotten a nice replacement for Aubameyang. However, all transfers linking Giroud to Dortmund have ended for reasons I cannot explain why which means Arsenal are forced to just pay with cash. I think the club is ambitious enough and has the right amount of money to spend, but it is up to Wenger and the board to put and end to this saga. Hopefully we can get it done, I would love to see Aubameyang in an Arsenal shirt.
In other news, Mathieu Debuchy has been linked with a move to West Brom in exchange for Albion’s captain Jonny Evans. Evans is an experienced center back and the idea of him signing for Arsenal is quite contradictory. Some people would not be too happy if he signed for us and others would be OK with it. Evans used to be one of the main center backs at Man United and has gained a lot of experience from the Theatre of Dreams. Now at 30 years of age, he is the captain of West Brom and is heavily linked with transfers out of the club. Personally, I would be OK if he signed with us. Experience isn’t something we lack very much but good and tough tackling defenders is something we do. I think Jonny Evans would be perfect for Arsenal because Holding and Chambers cannot compete with top tier Premier League strikers, as much as I do not want to say that. I think it would be good business for Arsenal to sign him now and get him used to the club before next season. It would be a good addition to our not-so-good defense and give the club another leader and defending option. Also, West Brom have stated that if they get relegated this season, Evans could leave for just 3 million pounds, which kind of surprises me. Should Arsenal wait to save money? I do not have one side of the topic, but all I would like to see is Arsenal sign a good defender for the future, whether it be Jonny Evans or someone better.
Lets say we did sign Jonny Evans, we would lose backup right back Debuchy. Debuchy has been at the club for around four years and really has not done much. He did win the FA Cup which is always exciting but apart from that, his career has been pretty dull for us. I think if we do sign Jonny Evans, we will need to find a right back in the summer. Either a backup or a starter is fine with me, but we cannot rely on Bellerin and U-23 players to fill in that role. I will leave that story till the end of the season, but I think it may be the next big transfer saga Arsenal will head into if Debuchy leaves Arsenal.
Overall, I think Aubameyang would be one of the most major signings for Arsenal and Debuchy plus cash for Evans would be a good deal. If all of those get done, I think it would be a very good transfer window for Arsenal. Only time can tell what will happen in the coming days near the end of the transfer window.
We do need to keep our focus on the Swansea game apart from these transfers, so lets win it!!!!
